Community Projects Management

Hi everyone, I’m Kitso Maragelo, LETCEE’s Community Projects Manager.

Friday 24th February

The end of the week in my office was a long shot, starting at 7h30 ending at 20h00 was just not a simple and usual day. The Friday was filled with lot of activities. I attended a board meeting as staff representative for the first time ever. The meeting went really well.

The second part of the day was preparing for interviews of new staff at Izingane Zethu Centre. Interviews kicked off at 16h45 and there were 13 interviewees for 4 posts. It was not an easy process, since the community where the centre is based requested that staff members needed must be from their community. With the help of the centre committee, four people were successful, with two new staff members coming from the community.

The partnership we have with the committee has helped us to recruit relevant candidates. I personally appreciate their contribution to this exercise.

What a wonderful day, but yes that’s the story of my life.

What I enjoy most about my work

I enjoy working with different people with a common goal:- ensuring that younger children meet their basic needs with much focus on early childhood education as an investment.

I chose to work for LETCEE because LETCEE is one organisation where one is at work but feel like it is home. The atmosphere is very relaxed and has created a lot of platforms for learning.
